Cellartrade allows you to buy wine from or sell wine to another party if you have the legal capacity to do so.
The sale and purchase of alcohol in the United Kingdom is subject to strict legal controls, however:
- If you are a holder of a relevant licence, then you may trade within the terms of that licence.
- If you do not hold a licence, there are some other circumstances in which you may buy and sell alcohol not stored in a licensed warehouse directly, particularly where a sale is made to a trader for the purpose of his trade. These rules are set out in S192 of the Licensing Act 2003 and the government’s guidance (see in particular para 3.2 to 3.5). If you are not satisfied that this exemption applies to you then you should not use Cellartrade.
