good level and long cork, colour still remarkably youthful, nose really fine, perfumed, typical Margaux, perfect weight and balance on the palate, very good indeed, at its peak but not going downhill in any hurry

good level and long saturated cork, colour still very good, only limited brown tinge, lovely classic Margaux nose, fine, perfumed, ethereal, palate shows its real age, fruit now more in the background, very good balance and length, certainly does not hide its age but a lovely and not yet fragile old lady, 88 and 89 were special years for Monbrison, which is why I bought both en primeur

perfect level and cork, some brown at rim reflecting 30 year old age, nose lovely, typical laid back Margaux, fine, classy, so poised, palate has perfect balance, still restrained tannins at finish, no longer in its fruit phase, depends what you like, some might say it’s over its peak because the fruit is no longer obvious, I love old Bordeaux’s and for me it is right in its drinking window, to each his own….
