Jancis Robinson’s note from 2001:

Oaky still with a kirsch overlay yet great tension too. This wine is absolutely massive, the biggest and most powerful in the tasting. Everything required for a long life is packed into this blockbuster but there is no need to pull the cork for ages.

Three 2017 notes from Cellartracker:

This is an agreeable, balanced Sauternes with more grace than power. It’s hard not to admire the flavors of orange marmalade, papaya, and candied ginger, even if they don’t overwhelm the senses. Ridiculously good for the price I paid for it (~$30 for a half bottle @ KLWines auction).

8/31/2017 – liber Likes this wine: 94 Points

Last of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, tad more nuanced than last showing in 2014 and against otherwise classier Rieussec ’98 on same night, hard to see it getting any better, but should hold for years. F+ (18).

During a tasting dinner. Nose of smoke, flowers, quince, very complex. Excellent palate, good freshness, long finish. A very strong showing and a Sauternes of great quality. Everyone loved it.
