Jancis Robinson’s note from 2005:
Slightly grey crimson. Quite sturdy and very characteristic – not lyrically perfumed and with quite a severe finish but absolutely textbook North Rhône Syrah with a nice lift on the finish. Looks more evolved than most Cornas. Strong pepper, mineral fragrance. Shows Côte Rôtie’s relative lightness of touch. Lively, flirtatious. Very correct for the AC – though it would not suit a Barossa Shiraz fan. Not opulent!

Last of 12, decanted 15 minutes, perfect cork and level, first bottle to show attractive plum fruit to cover undoubted structure, nicely dominating ash and smoke, not a bit green and with decent length and persistence, shame all drunk as good for 10 more years on this showing. F (17.5)……just pipped the Remillier 98 as had fresher, purer fruit with more drive.

Elegant, stylish red fruit based mature shiraz based wine with great balance of red currents, medium acidity and fine grained tannins. Should be OK for another 5 years at least.

Very good. A little more cut and less volume than the 99. Juicy acids, particularly on the finish, where it overwhelms the fruit a bit. Very spicy. Nice effort.
