Very, very good. Leather notes, smoky, nice nose, medium finish; right time to drink.

16 year old Shiraz from McLaren Vale, still powerful but oak is finally integrated, lovely deep red fruit up front, acidity/tannis on the mid-palate, all in great balance, long, lovely finish. 30 mins of air and still evolving well, so well made, wine is in its prime, suspect at least 3-4 more years before it starts a decline. I’ve had a number of older Shiraz recently from this time period and most do not hold up well, but this one is a great example of one that just got better.

Precise, squeaky clean, lots of dried dark fruits but not one dimensional. Notes of spices, mint, peppers. The wine was complex while remaining unmistakably Australian Shiraz. In a very good place to drink today. Should have no problem plateauing for 5 more years but why wait?
