Friulano (previously known as Tocai Friulano) is a respected native grape of the Friuli region of north-eastern Italy.
It produces wines with apricot and honey aromatics and a minerally almond flavoured palate.
This 2008 is now pretty mature, but very true to type.
Here is Antonio Galloni’s Wine Advocate review for the 2009 vintage:
The 2009 Friulano shows tons of varietal character in a rich, generous style. Flowers, mint, and apricots linger on the long finish. This is a beautiful, classy white from Torre Rosazza. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012.
