This is in a lighter style than many NZ Pinots, with sous-bois and gaminess more to the fore than primary fruits. Surprisingly burgundian.

Lovely aromas of cherry and smoke. Medium-bodied, bright, soft red berries and a very silky mouthfeel, a touch of spice and a good finish make this an easy-drinking wine with attractive qualities.

Discover New Zealand in a Glass (Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, Ontario, Canada): This pours on the lighter end of the spectrum and is bright and punchy. Similarly, the aromatics are mostly red fruited with red currants, cranberries, ginger, cream soda, herbs, dry rocky soil, organic soil, blood orange and mineral. 13.5% alcohol listed which seems accurate. The mouthfeel is round with high acid and low tannin. Beautiful. Medium plus finish. This is remarkable considering retail in Ontario would be $22. Too bad the agent doesn’t have an order planned.
